About the Legal and Audit Group
The Legal and Audit Group delivers organisation-wide governance support, legal oversight, and independent assurance. Its purpose is to protect integrity, transparency, and accountability across the business, while helping maintain legal compliance and strong corporate governance. The group also provides audit oversight aligned with the Three Lines model and supports the Board, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team with advice and assurance that helps reduce risk and improve decision-making.
About the Role
This permanent full-time role is available at either the Auckland airport office or the Christchurch campus. The Senior Auditor will report to the Audit Manager and will be responsible for delivering strong audit and assurance work that supports governance, risk control, and ongoing improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, carry out, and document audits as part of the Group Audit & Assurance Programme.
- Review internal controls, check compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory obligations, and identify ways to improve organisational effectiveness.
- Define audit scope, manage assigned audit work, develop practical recommendations, and prepare clear, high-quality reports for managers.
- Help improve audit methods and assurance practices, while contributing insights that support early identification and response to emerging risks.

About You
You should bring a safety-first mindset, curiosity, and a proactive approach to identifying and explaining risks. Strong communication skills are important, along with the ability to listen well and build excellent relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Requirements
- A degree in Commerce, Audit, or Business Management, or an equivalent vocational qualification or comparable experience.
- Between 2 and 3 years of audit experience, either internal or external, in an organisation of similar scale and complexity (800+ employees, state-owned enterprise, multiple locations and companies).
- Solid auditing capability and the ability to quickly learn or develop specialist knowledge.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and planning ability.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft tools, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment checks, including reference checks, drug and alcohol screening, and criminal conviction checks.
Preferred Experience
- CISA or CIA certification.
- Background in risk management.
