Role Overview
This position is for a Quality Engineer Associate at Scotiabank in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The role sits within a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on delivering reliable digital experiences across native mobile, web, and API-based products. What You’ll Do
- Plan and build automated testing approaches that cover end-to-end flows for iOS, Android, web applications, and APIs.
- Create, improve, and support automation suites with tools such as Playwright, Appium, or Selenium based on platform needs.
- Develop API automation to verify REST services, including authentication behavior, data checks, and error scenarios.
- Partner with product, engineering, and QA stakeholders to clarify test coverage needs and prioritize business-critical cases.
- Embed automated testing into CI/CD workflows to support continuous validation and quicker releases.
- Perform accessibility validation using tools and assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, JAWS, and WCAG checkers.
- Apply AI-enabled tools to improve test generation, identify potential defects, and support visual validation.
- Use cloud testing platforms and device farms such as BrowserStack to confirm compatibility across browsers and devices.
- Review execution results, investigate failures, and collaborate with developers to close defects efficiently.
- Keep test artifacts up to date, including test plans, test cases, and automation code.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, along with several years of hands-on QA and automation experience. Strong familiarity with mobile, web, and API automation is expected, as well as comfort working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle. Experience with accessibility standards, testing tools, debugging utilities, and test management platforms is also important.
