Role overview
BSI is looking for a Product Certification Auditor to support product excellence across its certification programmes. The position is field-based in Ireland or Northern Ireland and involves assessing product certification against BSI’s certification schemes and Kitemark requirements. This is an opportunity to work with a globally recognised standards organisation with 125 years of history, helping manufacturers meet compliance expectations and improve product quality and safety.
The role suits either experienced auditors or professionals who have worked with standards compliance in manufacturing environments such as structural steel (EN 1090), concrete, aggregates, and construction products (CPR)-related schemes. The work is field based and requires significant travel across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
Compensation and package
The salary is a competitive base pay linked to experience, along with a company car and bonus. BSI also offers a broader reward package that includes annual bonus, company vehicle, pension, private health scheme, flexible working hours, and ongoing training and development.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out product certification audits and prepare assessment reports that clearly explain findings and any corrective actions needed.
- Make recommendations on whether certificates should be issued, renewed, or withdrawn, in line with BSI policies, procedures, and timelines.
- Own and manage nominated client accounts to maintain strong relationships, reliable service, and business growth.
- Lead assessment teams when needed, making sure everyone is well briefed and that service quality remains high.
- Work with support teams to keep client records accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Coach colleagues, especially newer assessors or those unfamiliar with the client’s sector or technology, and help induct new team members when required.
- Plan and organise workloads to use time effectively and increase revenue-generating activity.
- Take part in the full onboarding pathway needed to progress to Lead Assessor status.
- Show the knowledge and practical ability needed to complete standardised assessment activities and apply audit practices correctly.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of clients based on location and contract requirements.
- Contact clients, arrange visits, plan assessments, organise travel, complete audits, and report and track outcomes efficiently.
Candidate profile
Applicants should have at least 4 years of industry experience in a product manufacturing environment, ideally with a focus on quality management or product certification. A background in engineering or manufacturing is preferred. Prior exposure to product assessment or auditing against standards is important. The role also requires frequent travel. Knowledge of quality management system auditing practices, particularly ISO 9001, is needed, and a Lead Auditor 9001 qualification would be a strong advantage.
Working style and additional details
This is a field-based position with extensive travel, and the remit may include audits across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The company is committed to diversity and inclusion and operates as an equal opportunity employer. BSI describes its culture through client-centricity, agility, and collaboration, and focuses on helping organisations build trust, improve performance, and contribute to a more sustainable world.
