School overview
Compass International School Doha is a premium British school that began in 2006, serving expatriate and Qatari families. The school operates across three campuses: Al Themaid and Madinat Khalifa cater to learners from Early Years to Secondary, while Gharaffa is a dedicated Primary campus for children aged 3 to 11. Each campus follows a tailored British curriculum, and the Secondary phase offers IGCSEs, AS and A levels, alongside the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. The school is known for a welcoming atmosphere, a strong community spirit, and a student-centred approach.
The school holds Qatar National Schools Accreditation (QNSA) and is affiliated with BSME, COBIS and AoBSO. Qatar also offers year-round sunshine and excellent international connectivity, making it an attractive place for expatriates.
Role overview
The Primary Class Teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the school’s Primary curriculum, create an ambitious learning culture, and help pupils believe in what they can achieve. The role also involves encouraging respectful classroom behaviour and supporting learning through thoughtful questioning and discussion.
Key responsibilities
You will be expected to set high expectations for students and design learning experiences that are challenging, purposeful and well matched to the curriculum. The role also requires you to build a classroom climate where respect is central and pupils are encouraged to think deeply, discuss ideas and take part actively in their learning.
Candidate profile
The school is looking for an adaptable teacher who can thrive in a fast-moving international setting. You should hold a university degree and a recognised teaching qualification, with around two years of experience preferred. You are expected to be reflective, creative and committed to improving practice and outcomes through ongoing professional learning. Collaboration is important, as is the ability to share expertise and represent the school positively.
Strong communication is essential, particularly when working with parents, students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. To meet Qatar visa requirements, applicants must hold either a bachelor’s degree in education or a degree plus PGCE/QTS earned through face-to-face study at a physical institution rather than an online programme.
Experience and qualifications
Essential qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education and a teaching qualification such as QTS or PGCE/PGDE. Preferred experience includes two years of teaching, exposure to different year groups, familiarity with the English National Curriculum, strong classroom and behaviour management skills, and prior experience in international schools.
Personal qualities
The ideal candidate will speak fluent English and demonstrate integrity, honesty, reliability and loyalty. You should bring confidence, energy and a positive, solution-focused mindset. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are important, along with cultural sensitivity, approachability, a sense of humour, resilience under pressure, good organisation, time management and the ability to adapt to change and uncertainty.
Benefits
The role comes with a professional working environment and a competitive remuneration and benefits package. Nord Anglia Education also offers strong professional development, access to innovative best practice across its international school network, and opportunities for career growth. Working in Qatar also provides the advantage of a sunny climate, international travel links and a rapidly developing environment.
Application process
Applications must be submitted online through the Nord Anglia Education careers page. Applicants should provide a CV, a two-page cover letter and the contact details of three professional referees, including the current School Principal or Head Teacher.
Important dates
The intended start date is 1 August 2026. The application deadline is Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
Selection process
Initial interviews may be held either in person or via Teams, while final interviews are planned for January 2026 in London and Doha. The school may appoint a suitable candidate before the advertised closing date, so early applications are encouraged.
Safeguarding and vetting
The organisation is committed to creating a safe, positive environment where children and young people can thrive. It promotes equality and safeguarding regardless of race, ability, religion, gender or culture. All staff in regulated roles are subject to appropriate national and international vetting, including satisfactory criminal record checks from the country of residence or birth and any country lived in during the last 10 years.
