Role overview
This is a full-time, permanent field-based position for a pest control technician working across Essex, with coverage also extending into parts of Kent, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, and London. The business is an expanding pest control provider backed by a broader corporate group involved in civil engineering and drainage, and it is looking for energetic, proactive people who want long-term growth rather than a quiet, routine role.
Pay and working pattern
The salary range is £26,000 to £35,000 a year, depending on experience, with commission available on top. Working hours are Monday to Friday, although some weekends and bank holidays will be required on a rota. After probation, a fully equipped company van is provided; at the start, you will shadow an existing technician.
About the employer
The organisation is a fast-growing, lively team with ambitious plans to become a leading national name. It operates with a high-energy, forward-moving culture and values people who are motivated, adaptable, and eager to contribute to expansion.
What the job involves
- Carrying out scheduled contract visits for commercial clients to monitor pest activity and apply prevention measures.
- Handling residential call-outs in spaces such as lofts, kitchens, gardens, garages, and sheds.
- Using practical multi-trade ability to repair, seal, block, and reinstate areas so pests cannot re-enter.
- Recording work and completing reports through the company’s digital job-tracking tools on mobile devices or tablets.
What the employer is looking for
The preferred background is either a Level 2 Pest Management qualification through RSPH or BPCA, or solid experience in multi-skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, roofing, or building maintenance. Strong written and spoken English is needed for customer communication and reporting. Applicants should also be comfortable working at height, using modern apps and digital systems, and contributing as reliable, high-energy team members with a strong work ethic. A full UK driving licence is essential.
Benefits and progression
- A competitive base salary aligned to experience and qualifications.
- A fully equipped company van for field duties after probation.
- Commission opportunities through upselling, cross-selling, and arranging repeat service visits.
- Clear scope for career advancement as the company expands nationally.
- A supportive, motivated team environment that recognises effort and success.
Additional information
The employer places a strong emphasis on attitude and personality, and is open to applications from a wide range of candidates. Suitable applicants may be contacted directly for the next stage of the process. If selected, you will be expected to provide an updated CV. By applying, you consent to your information being shared with the client for recruitment purposes.
