About the role
Old Mutual is looking for a highly adaptable Executive Personal Assistant to support the Managing Director of Old Mutual Investment Group in Harare. This position calls for someone who can go well beyond routine administration, stay closely engaged with the work, and help drive outcomes in a fast-moving, demanding environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior internal and external stakeholders, handle sensitive matters with professionalism, and help manage competing priorities while maintaining a diplomatic, solutions-oriented approach.
Administrative support
- Provide executive-level administrative assistance, including preparing presentations, notes, and related materials.
- Coordinate inputs and resources needed to compile information, and may prepare initial drafts of reports.
- Create presentations with minimal guidance from senior leadership.
- Raise important matters within the business through the right channels in a timely manner.
- Research and investigate ad hoc business issues and new developments as required.
- Respond promptly and professionally to requests from clients and stakeholders.
- Act as a primary contact for incoming correspondence and calls.
- Plan and coordinate in-person and virtual events and conferences.
- Ensure the senior leader has all required documentation ahead of meetings.
Relationship management
- Develop and sustain productive relationships with executives and senior managers.
- Engage regularly with external parties, stakeholders, and clients when required.
Communication and engagement
- Prepare documents on behalf of business unit leaders.
- Support the coordination of key events for the business unit leader, including hosting internal and external guests.
Personal effectiveness
- Take ownership of service delivery and ensure work is completed through personal effort.
- Manage time, priorities, tasks, and quality standards independently.
- Continuously build capability by expanding individual skills.
- Work collaboratively with others to deliver results.
- Demonstrate and uphold company values.
Qualifications and experience
This role requires a postgraduate degree in finance, commerce, or another relevant field, along with strong management experience. Experience dealing with senior management is essential.
The ideal candidate should have excellent English communication and drafting ability, strong organisation and prioritisation skills, high attention to detail, and the capacity to perform under pressure. A proactive mindset, accountability, and the ability to complete assignments to a high standard are critical.
Additional strengths include project management capability, stakeholder management experience, strong interpersonal skills, relationship-building ability, business awareness, and the confidence to influence outcomes without relying on authority. The role also requires discretion and the ability to keep internal and external information confidential.
Because the position supports speech writing, media content, event management, and business representation, strong planning, coordination, engagement, and interpersonal skills are especially important. A broad understanding of the industry, organisation, products, intermediaries, and customers would be an advantage.
