Role overview
This position is located in the Fashion and Watches & Fine Jewelry boutique at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. The Operations Manager is responsible for all front-line support and back-office functions that keep the boutique running smoothly, including stock control, maintenance, after-sales service, cash handling, administration, and security.
The role calls for a mix of leadership, teamwork, analytical thinking, and a strong appreciation for fashion and luxury retail. The person in this role helps improve boutique performance while staying aligned with the brand’s commercial direction and image. Close coordination with the team and a focus on collaboration and results are essential.
Key stakeholders
This role reports to the Boutique Director and works with several internal and external partners.
- Internal partners include stock, administration, cash, and after-sales teams; boutique management; fashion advisors; other Fashion and WFJ boutiques in the UAE; and store planning.
- External partners include security providers, suppliers, vendors, and other organizations involved in the luxury retail sector.
Team leadership and back-office management
- Oversee the boutique’s stock, after-sales, cash, and administration activities.
- Make sure the team understands and applies the house’s strategy.
- Lead the team in a way that encourages cooperation, motivation, and engagement across different responsibilities.
- Drive goal achievement through reviews, follow-ups, and performance discussions.
- Set development priorities for the team and track progress against them.
- Support the team proactively by helping solve problems and improving how the operation is organized.
- Work with boutique management to ensure alignment across all retail teams with the brand strategy.
Business management and operational control
- Act as a strategic partner to the Boutique Director.
- Review boutique sales and performance regularly, flagging KPI risks early and proposing action plans to improve results.
- Support management in reviewing key business indicators such as monthly coverage, sell-through, and slow-moving items, and provide data-backed recommendations for each category.
- Conduct special analyses needed by boutique management and contribute insights that support business and strategy decisions.
- Work with boutique management and head office buying teams to support buying decisions through detailed analysis.
- Supervise inventory planning and execution, including the annual stock count and ongoing inventory optimization with the Stock Manager.
- Handle after-sales operations in a customer-focused and efficient manner, in line with CHANEL standards, alongside the Aftersales Manager.
- Ensure schedules are prepared in line with legal requirements and brand expectations, and oversee police and mall permit matters with the Administration Supervisor.
- Confirm that cash processes and procedures are properly implemented and followed with the support of the Cashier Manager.
- Put appropriate security systems and procedures in place to protect the boutique, merchandise, and people.
- Monitor boutique purchases to ensure spending stays within the approved budget.
Brand representation
- Contribute to special projects and help communicate the CHANEL vision to the team.
- Represent the brand professionally with external bodies and with key contacts at mall management.
- Ensure that boutique procedures and the boutique charter are followed consistently.
- Use the brand image as a guiding principle in decision-making.
