Pecana develops shelf-stable milks made from pecans. The business already has meaningful marketing traction and a broker network that has produced strong results, including placement with Walmart nationwide and about 4,000 additional retailers. With a healthy pipeline in motion, the company is looking for its first dedicated operations hire to establish, manage, and improve the systems that will support continued growth.

Role Summary

This is a hands-on operational builder position in a lean environment. You will oversee the full day-to-day operations function, including EDI/SPS Commerce, order planning, vendor and 3PL coordination, pricing and negotiation, retailer compliance, and ERP administration. You will also help support sales execution by providing forecasting inputs and ensuring retail readiness. The company uses Cin7 Core today and expects to continue using it; direct experience with that platform is helpful but not mandatory. Prior ERP ownership is required.

Key Responsibilities

You will own the operations backbone across order fulfillment, planning, systems, vendor management, and compliance, while partnering with sales to keep supply aligned with demand.

  • Manage retailer and wholesaler EDI workflows, including 850, 855, 856, 810, and 945 documents, and ensure accurate, timely ASN transmission through major EDI translators.
  • Handle the SPS Commerce relationship and associated workflows, including setup for new customer EDI connections and data flow.
  • Maintain retailer compliance requirements such as routing guides, ticketing and labeling, pack and pallet specifications, and MABD/OTIF-style expectations.
  • Work with the sales team to turn demand signals from the broker pipeline and marketing calendar into SKU-level weekly supply and allocation plans, while maintaining minimums, maximums, and safety stock.
  • Schedule production and inbound purchase orders, and coordinate with the 3PL (RJW) on wave, pick, ship, and service-level performance for ambient warehousing.
  • Administer the ERP system (Cin7 Core), including items, pack configurations, sales and purchase order flows, price lists, EDI integrations, and reporting.
  • Create dashboards that act as the operational source of truth for inventory, service level, backorders, and forecast accuracy.
  • Own vendor and 3PL relationships, including quoting, pricing discussions, lead times, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Maintain landed-cost details in the ERP, such as inbound freight, duties, and accessorial charges, and support updates to price lists.
  • Coordinate packaging and label changes, GS1/UPC management, case and pallet specifications, and code dating requirements for shelf-stable products.

Success Metrics

The role will be measured by the following outcomes:

  • At least 98% EDI document accuracy and on-time transmission.
  • At least 96% case-fill and on-time shipping performance at the 3PL.
  • No more than 1.0 stockout per SKU per quarter, with forecast error of 20% or lower on A-SKUs.
  • Less than 10 business days from award to order-ready onboarding.
  • Zero preventable compliance chargebacks each quarter.

Required Background

The ideal candidate will bring deep CPG operations experience with direct ownership across EDI, retailer compliance, and 3PL execution. Experience with ambient or shelf-stable products is preferred.

  • 3 to 7+ years of experience in CPG operations with direct responsibility for EDI, retailer compliance, and 3PL execution.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Director of Operations and Sales.

Work Model and Travel

Compensation and Bonus Plan

The base salary for this position is $100,000. In addition, quarterly bonuses may be earned based on operational performance:

  • 10% of realized COGS reduction achieved during the quarter.
  • $1,000 bonus for achieving at least 96% case-fill and on-time ship performance at the 3PL during the quarter.
  • $1,000 bonus for keeping stockouts at or below 1.0 per quarter.
  • $1,000 bonus for maintaining zero preventable compliance chargebacks during the quarter.
