Role overview

The Network Administrator will help introduce new technologies into the company’s infrastructure environment while also supporting and enhancing existing Information Technology Services.

Key responsibilities

Install, set up, validate, maintain, observe, and fix servers, software, and network-connected peripheral equipment.
Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex infrastructure issues for different types of users.
Identify corrective actions and put the right solutions in place.
Handle escalated service desk requests and work them through to resolution.
Build, deploy, and test customized setups across multiple platforms and operating systems.
Support the IT Services team with research and development of newer technologies that can improve service delivery, including evaluating products for potential purchase.
Assist with the development, rollout, and upkeep of IT services and projects.
Draft technical specifications for IT Services and maintain related records and documentation.
Plan, perform, and recommend improvements, upgrades, and repairs for systems.
Coordinate with external support teams and equipment suppliers.
Stay current on technology trends, tools, and future developments to remain technically up to date.

Requirements and qualifications

A diploma or degree in IT Operations, along with at least 4 years of equivalent server/networking experience.
3–4 years of IT operations experience.
IT certifications are considered an advantage.
Strong practical troubleshooting background.
Working knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, including TCP/IP, HTTP, POP3, SMTP, Windows Server 2003 to 2008R2, Windows networking concepts, Microsoft Office, and corporate/personal antivirus tools.
Experience supporting switches, firewalls, security tools, and mobile devices.
Exposure to a service-management environment such as MOF or ITIL is an asset.
Ability to research topics, think creatively, and plan effectively.
Comfort with multitasking, persistence, and adapting to changing priorities.
Strong judgment, tact, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of SAN, VLAN, and virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, procedures, and OEM documentation.
Capability to write and maintain technical documentation.
Clear understanding of organizational goals and priorities.
Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Strong customer-service mindset with good organization and time management.
Availability for on-call emergency support.
Ability to sit for long periods.
Willingness to work weekend hours for monthly maintenance updates.
Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer hardware.
Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings, as well as server racks.
Occasional travel to clubs, offsite meetings, or conferences.

Compensation

The starting base salary is expected to be $65,000 per year. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for bonuses. Total expected annual compensation ranges from $65,000 to $87,000 depending on performance, tenure in the role, and variable earnings.
