Role overview
District School Board Ontario North East is hiring two Monitors for Timmins Centennial Public School. This is a newly created role, scheduled from September 1, 2026 through June 25, 2027. The shift is 120 minutes per day in a split-shift format, and the position is based in Timmins, Ontario.
What the job involves
Supervision Monitors are responsible for keeping students under general supervision during arrival, departure, nutrition breaks, recess, and other designated times, both inside the school and outdoors. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, orderly environment and supporting school staff with student monitoring throughout the day.
Essential duties
- Oversee students during bus arrival and dismissal procedures.
- Help organize students so entry and exit routines run smoothly.
- Supervise outdoor yard duty during all recess periods.
- Monitor hallways, classrooms, and bathrooms as needed.
- Watch over classrooms and lunch spaces during breaks.
- Supervise students in assigned indoor areas when weather prevents outdoor monitoring.
- Follow and reinforce all school safety procedures.
- Prioritize the safety and security of students at all times.
- Handle behavioural concerns and bring them to the attention of the Principal or Vice Principal.
- Consult the Principal or Vice Principal whenever guidance is needed.

- Ability to climb stairs and walk distances during supervision duties.
- First aid and CPR are considered an advantage.
Education and experience
A Grade 12 diploma or an equivalent credential is required. Prior experience in a school environment is preferred.
Compensation
The pay rate for this role is $20.64 per hour.
