Role Overview

This full-time, on-site Land Planner position is based in Kiambu, Kenya. The role focuses on evaluating land use possibilities and limitations, preparing and checking site plans, and supporting the planning and design of land development initiatives. The position requires gathering and analyzing planning data, reviewing zoning and compliance requirements, and producing drawings, maps, and planning documents for both internal teams and outside stakeholders. The Land Planner will work closely with engineers, surveyors, architects, and local government authorities to make sure projects follow land use policies and community priorities. The role also includes attending stakeholder discussions, contributing to reports and proposals, and helping shape development concepts that are practical and environmentally sound.

Responsibilities

• Assess land use opportunities and constraints for proposed development projects.
• Prepare, review, and refine site plans and supporting planning materials.
• Collect, interpret, and organize planning-related data for project use.
• Evaluate zoning rules, development controls, and other regulatory requirements.
• Create or assist with drawings, maps, and planning documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, architects, and local authorities throughout the planning process.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings and contribute to project reports and proposals.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of land use planning, zoning, development regulations, and environmental considerations.
• Experience in urban planning and the ability to incorporate community needs, infrastructure, and sustainability into project ideas.
• Ability to prepare and evaluate site plans, including layout, circulation, utilities, and open-space arrangement.
• Knowledge of land development processes, project approvals, and coordination with relevant authorities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Land Use Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a similar field.
• Capability to read technical drawings, maps, surveys, and planning documents.
• Familiarity with CAD, GIS, or comparable tools is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, report writing, and close attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
• Understanding of Kenyan planning laws and development standards, especially in Kiambu County, is preferred.
