Role Purpose

This position is responsible for handling aircraft fire incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material situations, and other emergencies within airport premises. The role supports the safety of passengers, crew members, and airport staff through firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency medical support.

Key Responsibilities

The firefighter will be expected to react quickly to airport emergencies and carry out rescue and suppression activities as required.

• Attend aircraft-related incidents, building fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material cases, and other urgent situations on airport grounds without delay.
• Carry out firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical support to protect people and property.
• Use appropriate extinguishing methods and agents such as water, foam, dry chemicals, and similar tools to control and put out fires.
• Conduct search-and-rescue activity in smoke-affected or dangerous environments.
• Deliver first aid and basic life support until qualified medical teams take over.
• Help move patients to healthcare facilities when required.
• Inspect firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and personal protective equipment every day and ensure they are operational.
• Track stock levels of firefighting supplies and equipment and keep all emergency assets ready for use.
• Take part in regular emergency drills, ICAO-required training, and fire exercises.
• Maintain accurate records such as incident reports, training logs, and shift records for audit and compliance purposes.
• Follow all applicable local, state, and federal fire and emergency-response rules, along with standard operating procedures.
• Identify hazards during patrols and inspections and take prompt corrective action where needed.
• Prepare and file incident documentation, equipment registers, and other mandatory reports.
• Work closely with airport operations, medical teams, and outside emergency agencies during incidents.
• Coordinate emergency activity and drills with the Duty Manager, ATC, and airport authorities.

Stakeholder Coordination

The role interacts with internal teams such as the Duty Manager for ARFF, airport operations, security, emergency medical services, ARFF crew, engineering and maintenance, and the health, safety, and environment team. External coordination may include the local fire services department, airlines, ground handling companies, ARFF equipment suppliers and service providers, insurance companies, local community leaders, and civil aviation authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should hold a Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or an equivalent qualification. A certification from an accredited firefighting academy is mandatory. The job requires 2 to 3 years of firefighting experience, preferably in aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) operations.
