Role overview
Brakes is looking for a Business Development Manager to support growth across Southampton, Winchester and Reading in a home/field-based setup. This role sits within the Independent Sales Team and focuses on expanding the company’s presence with independent foodservice customers.
The package includes competitive pay, uncapped bonus potential, and either a company car or car allowance, along with a home-based contract.
What you will do
- Identify, pursue and convert new independent business opportunities while keeping a healthy sales pipeline active.
- Build strong relationships with independent customers in the local food market through a genuine interest in food and service.
- Develop tailored food and culinary propositions that help customers save time and reduce costs.
- Drive profitable growth and work toward sales and profit targets.
- Support the onboarding of new clients, working closely with an Area Sales Manager to ensure a smooth start.
- Track competitor activity and market movements in the independent sector, then share useful insight and solutions.
- Meet market objectives with a proactive, target-focused approach.
What Brakes is looking for
Experience in field sales is helpful but not essential. The business is seeking someone with a commercial approach, a strong drive to achieve results, and confidence in working face to face with customers in the field.
Foodservice or hospitality experience would be an advantage, although full product and business training will be provided through a structured induction programme.
