About Jefferies

Jefferies is a global investment banking and capital markets business that advises investors, companies, and governments with deep market insight, technical expertise, and strong execution capabilities. The firm is known for its entrepreneurial environment and focus on delivering strong outcomes for clients. Its London TMT franchise is recognised as a major player in the sector worldwide.

The London-based TMT team works with corporate clients, private equity firms, and sponsor-backed businesses on mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory work, equity and debt financing, and other sophisticated transactions across Europe and other markets.

Role overview

Jefferies is hiring an Associate to join its successful TMT Investment Banking team in London. The role offers exposure to prominent cross-border deals and strategic advisory assignments, with close collaboration alongside senior bankers and clients in the technology, media, and telecommunications space.

The person in this position will contribute to M&A execution, capital raising processes, and strategic advisory mandates, while also assisting with business development efforts and supporting the development of junior team members.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the execution of M&A, strategic advisory, and capital markets transactions within the TMT sector.
  • Build, refine, and analyse advanced financial models such as valuation frameworks, merger models, LBO models, and operating models.
  • Create polished client decks, marketing materials, board materials, and transaction-related documents.
  • Carry out in-depth research and analysis on industries, markets, and companies.
  • Manage diligence activities and coordinate information requests among multiple parties.
  • Work directly with clients, sponsors, legal counsel, accountants, and other deal participants.
  • Assist senior bankers in generating new business and strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Guide Analysts by offering support on modelling, valuation, and deal execution tasks.
  • Take on greater ownership of workstreams and transaction steps while building broader client-facing responsibilities.

Qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate should have 3 to 6 years of relevant investment banking experience, preferably in M&A, technology investment banking, or a similar advisory setting. Strong modelling, valuation, and analytical skills are essential, along with proven experience in executing transactions, including M&A and/or capital raising.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required, as well as close attention to detail and the ability to handle several projects at once. The role also calls for someone who works well in a busy, collaborative, team-focused environment. A bachelor's degree, or an equivalent level of academic achievement, is expected.

Experience in technology-sector investment banking is particularly valuable, especially across software, SaaS, vertical software, IT services, FinTech, data and analytics, and technology-enabled services. Additional exposure to founder-led businesses, growth-stage companies, and software-focused private equity investors is beneficial, as is experience with cross-border transactions involving European and global technology businesses.

What we offer

  • Opportunity to work on leading TMT transactions and client relationships.
  • Direct responsibility and regular interaction with senior bankers and clients.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial, high-performance working culture.
  • Strong career growth prospects within an expanding global platform.
  • A competitive compensation and benefits package.
