Role Objective

This position focuses on ensuring timely electrical maintenance during assigned shifts so that equipment remains available and the plant stays operational. The role involves responding to emergencies, planning preventive maintenance to improve reliability, taking prompt corrective action, monitoring equipment health, issuing permits for safe electrical work, and managing critical spares to reduce downtime. It also requires coordination across departments and supervision of junior technicians for uninterrupted plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical maintenance activities during the shift to keep equipment ready for use.
• Respond to plant breakdowns and emergencies with immediate corrective measures to maintain continuity.
• Track the condition of plant machines and systems to reduce failures and unexpected outages.
• Create and follow preventive maintenance plans to improve equipment reliability.
• Authorize permits to work for electrical jobs while ensuring safety standards are followed.
• Provide temporary electrical connections to user departments whenever needed.
• Keep complete and accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Update maintenance logs and related documentation for audits and future reference.
• Ensure backup power systems are functional and tested regularly.
• Use SAP for material issuance and inventory control.
• Diagnose electrical issues during emergencies to reduce downtime.
• Carry out periodic testing of electrical systems to detect likely issues in advance.
• Maintain stock of essential electrical spares and tools.
• Work with the Techno Commercial team to arrange required parts and supplies.
• Ensure inventory is replenished on time so maintenance work is not delayed.
• Guide and supervise junior technicians during the shift.
• Coordinate with other departments to support smooth plant operations.
• Report current and upcoming maintenance requirements to senior management.
• Follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM, and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
• Support safety for people and equipment through training and adherence to procedures.
• Take part in safety audits and risk reviews to identify and reduce hazards.
• Encourage environmental responsibility by reducing waste and using resources efficiently.
• Apply sustainable electrical maintenance practices that help lower the plant’s carbon footprint.
• Support digitalisation efforts to improve operational efficiency.
• Adopt process improvements, newer technologies, and innovative approaches where applicable.
• Review digital system data to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

The role requires a BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Candidates should have more than 4 years of experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setup. Experience in heavy industries such as power generation, steel manufacturing, or similar plant-based operations and maintenance environments is preferred.
