About the Role
Cuningham is looking for an Architectural Designer I to join its Minneapolis team and help shape meaningful places that improve everyday life. The role is ideal for an early-career designer who wants to strengthen technical abilities, contribute original ideas, and grow within a collaborative practice focused on people and communities.
What You’ll Do
- Help advance design concepts across every project stage, from early ideation through construction.
- Use sketching, 2D drafting, 3D modeling, visualization software, and computational design methods to support design development.
- Prepare presentations, renderings, and visual communication materials that clearly express design intent.
- Assist with architectural documentation, detailing, and BIM coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, and project teams to support design and delivery goals.
- Take part in construction administration tasks such as site visits and field verification.
- Research materials, products, assemblies, and systems that inform design and technical decisions.
- Contribute to site analysis, massing studies, programming, and space-planning efforts.
- Support regenerative design thinking that benefits the built environment, society, and natural systems.
- Help maintain a culture of curiosity, innovation, teamwork, and design quality.
What We’re Looking For
- A professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Between 0 and 3 years of experience in architecture or a closely related design field.
- Strong interest in design quality, creativity, and improving the human experience through architecture.
- Practical familiarity with architectural design, construction documents, and building systems.
- Hands-on experience with Revit and BIM-based workflows.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, with these tools preferred.
- Interest in building skills with Rhino, Enscape, and Lumion.
- Good communication, coordination, and organization abilities.
- A proactive mindset, curiosity, and commitment to ongoing learning.
- Interest in sustainable and regenerative design approaches.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $26.25 to $38.50. The actual offer may vary based on work location, accreditation, experience, and responsibilities. The salary range was updated on 1/18/2026.
