Role overview
Gauntlet is looking for an Accountant to strengthen its accounting team and help maintain accurate, complete, and reliable financial records. The role contributes to monthly close work, financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, audit preparation, and compliance activities. You will partner closely with the Accounting Lead, Onchain Accounting Lead, and Controller while gaining exposure to a wide range of accounting and finance work.

Key responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
- Draft journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation.
- Complete bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Keep accounting records and backup documentation accurate and organized.
- Help prepare monthly financial statement packages.
- Review account activity and research unusual variances.
- Handle the end-to-end accounts payable workflow, including invoices and vendor payments.
- Manage customer billing, collections, and receivables tracking.
- Maintain up-to-date vendor and customer information.
- Ensure transactions are coded correctly and posted on time.
- Administer Ramp and other spend management tools.
- Review employee expense submissions for policy adherence.
- Oversee corporate card activity and related reconciliations.
- Support employee reimbursement processing.
- Prepare audit support schedules and workpapers.
- Assist with annual financial statement audits.
- Support tax filing activities and compliance reporting.
- Maintain well-structured accounting records and documentation.
- Adhere to established accounting policies and procedures.
- Help strengthen internal controls and documentation standards.
- Look for ways to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Support automation efforts and systems upgrades.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2–4 years of accounting experience with growing responsibility in month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting; candidates may be assessed at the IC2 level depending on experience, ownership, and scope.
- Good working knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement presentation.
- Experience preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Hands-on exposure to month-end close processes.
- Clear understanding of how the balance sheet and income statement connect.
- Strong attention to detail and solid organizational habits.
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets proficiency.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
Preferred background
- Experience in public accounting.
- CPA qualification or progress toward certification.
- Background in a startup environment.
- Exposure to Xero, Ramp, Bill.com, or comparable accounting tools.
- Experience in crypto, fintech, or technology companies.
