Support Worker - Matamata

Role overview

This permanent full-time position is based in Matamata and includes weekend work along with sleepover shifts. You’ll need to be available on alternate weekends. The role offers the chance to earn while you learn and work toward nationally recognised qualifications.

About the role

IDEA Services assists people with intellectual disabilities to live meaningful lives at home and within their communities. In this role, you will support people in their own homes as they work toward their goals and aspirations. The work is hands-on, varied, and suits someone who enjoys making each day engaging and tailored to what matters to others.

You will be supporting clients with complex needs, helping manage risk, maintaining safety, and delivering personal care throughout the night. Prior experience in a similar field is helpful, but the organisation is especially looking for someone with broad life experience and an open, open-minded approach.

What you will need to bring

You should have experience in caregiving or adult personal care where possible, along with a calm and steady manner when working with challenging behaviour. Flexibility is important, including availability for weekends and sleepover shifts. You’ll also need to be comfortable using computers and tablets every day, communicate clearly in writing and speaking, stay physically fit for hands-on support, hold a full New Zealand driver licence, and have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

Benefits and support

The hourly pay ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 depending on relevant qualifications, and you can increase your earning potential as you complete more qualifications. IDEA Services will help you work toward Levels 2, 3, and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing.
