Description de l'emploi
About Source 21
Source 21 has operated in the specialty metals market since 1992 as a national distributor and processor. The company supports manufacturers that need a dependable supply partner for long-term programs, not just one-off orders.
Its customers work in highly demanding sectors such as medical manufacturing, aerospace and defense, power generation, energy transmission, industrial OEM, and advanced manufacturing. The business combines strong materials knowledge, disciplined operations, and modern systems while continuing to expand its national reach through lasting customer and supply relationships.
Reliability is a core part of the company’s identity.
About the Role
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the movement of material into and out of Source 21. This position leads procurement, supplier management, inventory, and logistics to ensure the right material is available in the right location at the right cost.
Because supply is central to the company’s customer promise, this role suits an experienced supply chain professional who can secure dependable, cost-effective sourcing and maintain a disciplined, accurate operation during growth.
How the Team Works
Source 21 operates with structured systems and quick execution. The company relies on ISO-based quality practices, strong accounting discipline, reliable inventory controls, and clear workflows, supported by people who can move work ahead independently.
The culture values initiative over micromanagement and follow-through over empty activity. Calm, clarity, ownership, and reliability are treated as competitive strengths.
What You Will Do
Procurement and Sourcing
- Own procurement activities by sourcing materials, negotiating prices, and securing dependable supply at competitive terms.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and mills, while also identifying, qualifying, and onboarding new suppliers.
- Build and preserve alternate supply options so production and delivery are not interrupted.
Inventory and Materials
- Manage inventory levels to support healthy turns and protect cash flow.
- Align purchasing plans with sales demand, customer needs, and lead times.
- Review and reconcile inventory records to keep ERP data accurate and trustworthy.
Logistics and Material Flow
- Oversee purchase order processing and logistics to ensure material arrives on time and within budget.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight and resolve supply disruptions when they occur.
Process and Cost Improvement
- Develop and refine supply chain processes across procurement, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve margins.
- Maintain clean and consistent data across ERP and supplier records.
Work Location
This is an on-site role based in Columbus, Ohio, with daily presence required. Travel is limited and may occasionally include visits to vendors or mills. The position is not suitable for candidates seeking remote-only or hybrid-first work.
What We Are Looking For
Required Experience
- 5 to 7 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or materials management.
- Direct metals industry background is mandatory, whether in distribution, processing, or manufacturing. Candidates without this experience cannot be considered.
- Strong ability to negotiate and manage vendors effectively.
- Comfort working with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical ability and close attention to detail.
- Ability to handle several priorities at once without constant oversight.
Highly Valued Experience
- Hands-on sourcing experience with stainless steel, nickel alloys, or copper and brass.
- Established mill relationships and familiarity with mill test reports and material specifications such as ASTM/AMS.
- Experience managing commodity cost exposure or hedging, including examples such as LME.
- Background in ISO-led quality systems and inventory control.
Compensation and Benefits
The role offers competitive base pay aligned with experience, along with an annual performance bonus tied to company performance and individual contribution.
Benefits include comprehensive healthcare coverage, a 401(k) plan with an automatic 3% company contribution regardless of employee contribution, paid time off, and company holidays. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
The company also offers long-term growth in a performance-driven, accountability-focused environment.
