Description de l'emploi
About the role
BG&E, now part of the SYSTRA Group, is a civil and structural engineering consultancy known for practical, buildable, award-winning design. The business is focused on delivering strong technical outcomes for clients while contributing to a sustainable and resilient international organisation.
This opportunity is for an Intermediate or Senior Structural Engineer who wants broader project exposure rather than repetitive, isolated tasks. The position offers involvement across the full lifecycle of projects and is based in Whangarei, within a collaborative environment where technical development and fresh ideas are encouraged.
What you will do
- Take ownership of structural design deliverables, including calculations, specifications, and drawings across a broad range of structural systems from initial concept through to final completion.
- Work closely with internal team members and coordinate effectively with architects, contractors, and other engineering specialists.
- Deliver projects to agreed timelines, within budget, and to a consistently high standard, with support and guidance from the wider team.
- Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions that go beyond standard templates and respond well to client needs.
What we are looking for
- A 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent Washington Accord qualification.
- Between 4 and 10 years of experience in consulting or construction.
- At least 2 years of New Zealand-specific experience.
- Solid understanding of fundamental engineering concepts, along with working knowledge of NZ Standards and Codes.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to focus on critical design aspects while maintaining a broader project view.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas in simple terms.
- Ability to build trusted working relationships both internally and externally.
- A self-driven attitude and genuine enthusiasm for ongoing professional growth.
What is offered
- Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
- Access to confidential health and wellbeing support through an Employee Assistance Program.
- Competitive pay.
- On-the-job coaching and access to a global expert network to support career development.
Culture and inclusion
BG&E places strong value on equality, diversity, and inclusion. The organisation encourages people to bring their whole selves to work and supports a collaborative workplace where different perspectives are welcomed and respected.
Health, safety, and wellbeing
The company is committed to maintaining safe and collaborative working environments and continues to strengthen its systems and performance to protect employees and stakeholders.

This role is based in Whangarei, Auckland, New Zealand.
