Description de l'emploi

Overview

A leading business in construction products is hiring a Specification Specialist to become part of its New Zealand team. This is an uncommon chance to take full ownership of the national specification function for a globally supported brand that already has a strong footprint in the NZ market.

The role

In this position, you will represent the company to architects, designers, engineers, specifiers, and head contractors. Your focus will be on ensuring the products are specified at the design stage and remain in the project through to construction. You will manage a nationwide project pipeline, present CPD content, attend industry events, and partner with the commercial and product teams to turn specifications into actual sales.

The role is independent and field-based. The business will provide product knowledge, tools, and support so you can operate effectively and drive results in the market.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture relationships with architects, specifiers, and other influential stakeholders across Auckland, Waikato, and the Bay of Plenty, with the role expanding to a national focus over time.
  • Position the company’s products within preferred specifications, standard construction details, and master specification libraries.
  • Present CPD sessions and technical briefings to professionals in design and construction.
  • Track and progress opportunities in Salesforce from early concept stage through to project win.
  • Work alongside the product and sales teams to prioritise opportunities and support commercial growth.

What the employer is looking for

The ideal candidate is highly self-driven and comfortable spending most of their time in the market. Strong knowledge of the New Zealand construction and building materials sector is important, along with an established network across the specifier community, including architects, designers, and engineers. Familiarity with MasterSpec, BTSL, EBOSS, and Pacificon will be beneficial.

You should be commercially aware, proactive, and able to work with a high level of autonomy. Technical familiarity with construction products such as waterproofing, adhesives, or sealants would be an advantage. The role requires Auckland-based candidates with a full New Zealand driver’s licence.

What’s on offer

  • The opportunity to join a well-supported, globally backed company with a meaningful presence in New Zealand.
  • Full ownership of the only specification function in NZ, with room to expand the role.
  • A company vehicle is included.
  • Strong potential for career growth.
  • Thorough product training and onboarding support will be provided.

Additional information

This role suits a relationship-focused and technically credible professional who understands the NZ specification landscape and wants to run a national function. Interested candidates are invited to send a CV through the application process. A confidential discussion is available by email.
