Role overview
This position is for a Jira-focused software engineer who will take ownership of a Jira Cloud setup and improve how it supports collaboration, delivery tracking, and operational efficiency. The work centers on refining workflows, automating repeatable tasks, and tuning Jira configurations to better match business needs.
What you will do
- Manage Jira Cloud day to day, including access control, user administration, and project setup.
- Create and improve workflows, custom fields, screens, and schemes so they align with internal processes.
- Develop automation and scripting solutions, including REST API-based integrations, to cut down manual work.
- Connect Jira with other enterprise systems such as Confluence, GitHub, and ServiceNow.
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and turn them into scalable Jira solutions.
- Track system health, investigate problems, and maintain accurate data across Jira projects.
- Record configuration choices, scripts, and operational guidance to support future maintenance.
- Train end users and provide ongoing support so teams can adopt Jira capabilities effectively.
What we are looking for
- A degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience administering Jira Cloud in a live production environment.
- Strong scripting ability with languages such as Python or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience creating Jira automation rules and using REST APIs and webhooks for integrations.
- Good understanding of Jira workflow architecture, permission schemes, issue types, and project templates.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and version control tools such as Git.
- Exposure to the software development life cycle.
- Experience with AWS or GCP is considered an advantage.
- Background in enterprise IT environments and security or compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and communication skills.
