About the Role
The Project Support Coordinator works as part of a collaborative team, helping the Portfolio Planning and Program Implementation groups with the project support needed across capital project delivery. The role covers research, planning, reporting, logistics, and administrative coordination through all phases of a project.
Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
- Follow all workplace safety expectations at all times and comply with the organization’s health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, and regulations.
- Help protect employees, contractors, and the public by reporting unsafe practices or rule violations, giving visitors thorough hazard orientation, and making sure work areas are left safe.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of health, safety, and environmental initiatives and support a strong safety culture.
Project and Administrative Support
- Support Project Managers and drafting staff by helping maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including IFC drawings, redline drawings, as-built drawings, manuals, and reports.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Projects and Engineering division by organizing meetings, recording meeting notes, and reconciling purchasing card transactions.
- Handle logistics support such as travel arrangements, shipping coordination, and general team coordination.
- Assist managers with project reporting that covers scope, schedule, cost, design, and construction progress.
- Contribute to project management activities through field inspections and construction support.
- Suggest practical solutions when issues arise during construction.
- Take part in commissioning activities for new installations.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A diploma in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, or a related technology field is required.
- At least 2 years of experience supporting project teams in an industrial or utility environment is required.
- Experience in project delivery within an engineering organization is preferred, and equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong computer skills are needed, including experience with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, project scheduling, and related software.
- Excellent keyboarding ability is essential.
- Working knowledge of construction projects, including the design, implementation, and commissioning stages, is required.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building abilities are important.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are needed to work effectively with project team members.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence is required.
- A satisfactory criminal record check must be provided by the selected candidate.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this position is $50.05 to $60.81, plus a location allowance of $3,823 per year. The benefits package includes health and dental coverage, long-term disability, life insurance, paid sick days, and a defined benefit pension plan. Relocation support may be available.
Location Requirement
This role is based in Hay River, Northwest Territories, and the successful candidate must live there or relocate there.
