Internship Overview
Metnmat Innovations Pvt. Ltd., recognized as India's pioneering private R&D firm specializing in metallurgy and materials solutions, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern. This role focuses on refrigeration system design, cold storage solutions, and portable cooling box development within an innovative and entrepreneurial environment. The intern will contribute to the design, fabrication, and prototype development of refrigeration-based systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the mechanical design processes for cold storage units and portable refrigeration systems.
- Participate in the selection and integration of critical components such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, and insulation materials.
- Contribute to the design of portable cooling boxes, their enclosures, air ducts, mounting fixtures, and related assemblies.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, prepare fabrication drawings, and develop basic Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate closely with fabrication and assembly teams to facilitate prototype construction.
- Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and refining refrigeration prototypes to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Provide input on material choices, insulation integration, and overall mechanical packaging of refrigeration systems.
Candidate Eligibility and Requirements
- Aspiring mechanical engineers pursuing B.Tech, Diploma, Polytechnic, or BSc degrees in mechanical engineering, refrigeration & air conditioning, thermal engineering, production, manufacturing, or related disciplines.
- Practical knowledge or prior experience in cold storage and refrigeration system design.
- Familiarity with components such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, insulation materials, and airflow design.
- Proficiency in mechanical design related to portable refrigeration boxes, fabricated frameworks, and system integration is essential.
- Basic understanding of fabrication methods including sheet metal work, welding, machining, and assembly.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling software is preferred.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude with an enthusiasm for prototype development and iterative design improvements.

- Work Location: Onsite in Howrah, West Bengal, India.
- Stipend: Monthly remuneration between INR 20,000 and INR 30,000.
