Role Overview
This position is centered on strengthening the bank’s risk review framework by producing dependable, consistent, and insight-rich information that supports informed decision-making. The role calls for a strong analytical approach, solid knowledge of regulatory topics such as Capital Adequacy, Liquidity, and Pillar 2, and the ability to work with large datasets. Practical coding knowledge in Python or R is important for building small tools and improving work processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and sustain a detailed risk database covering all on-balance-sheet and off-balance-sheet exposures across the bank.
- Study the credit portfolio and deliver monthly and quarterly risk performance as well as diversification reports for lending books.
- Design and introduce focused reports for specific sectors, business units, or themes.
- Identify important portfolio cuts and indicators to improve the quality and speed of analysis and reporting.
- Examine accounts using overdue reports and evaluate the status of non-performing loan accounts.
- Monitor key measures linked to the Risk Appetite Framework.
- Ensure regulatory timelines are met by preparing ICAAP, Capital Plan, and Recovery Plan submissions on schedule.
- Perform stress tests on portfolios and analyze major exposures.
- Manage the bank’s Expected Credit Loss model and related reporting in line with Qatar Central Bank requirements.
- Respond to information and data requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Compile, produce, and analyze portfolio management reports.
- Support data collection activities, review collection methods, and use tools such as Python and R to improve workflows.
- Prepare accurate material for business teams, internal and external auditors, and the Compliance function.
- Work with regulatory topics including capital rules, Basel IV, liquidity, and stress testing.
- Contribute to the development of models for PD, LGD, CCF, and macroeconomic model validation.
Core Competencies
- Strong analytical and quantitative capability.
- Good understanding of portfolio management and related policies.
- Comfortable using MS Office and programming tools, especially SQL and Python.
- Exposure to modelling is an advantage.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is required.
- Applicants should have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in risk management.
- Experience should include a thorough understanding of bank balance sheets and banking products.
