Role Overview
Ssquare Consulting is looking for a seasoned Lead Delivery Manager to support a major Federal Government client in Canberra. This senior position focuses on overseeing complete ICT service delivery, improving vendor outcomes, guiding managed services, and making sure all delivery activities stay aligned with business goals and contractual obligations.
The role suits someone who can partner with senior leaders, technical specialists, and service providers to ensure dependable ICT service performance in a demanding government setting.
Location and Work Pattern
This is an onsite role based in Canberra, ACT, with work required five days per week.
Security Clearance
Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) clearance is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full end-to-end delivery of managed ICT services.
- Serve as the main point of contact between business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams.
- Assess, administer, and renew managed ICT service contracts.
- Contribute to Australian Government Approach to Market (ATM) and procurement activities.
- Create technical requirements and service transition plans.
- Ensure ICT services achieve agreed SLAs and KPIs.
- Lead the onboarding and transition of new services and providers.
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with executives and customers.
- Handle risks, issues, escalations, governance, and service improvement actions.
- Coordinate cross-functional technical teams to support smooth delivery.
- Run governance meetings, track actions, monitor deliverables, and prepare executive reports.
- Maintain service records, operational procedures, and escalation pathways.
- Promote ongoing service improvement across ICT operations.
Required Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of experience in roles such as Delivery Manager, Service Delivery Manager, or Technical Project Manager, along with hands-on experience delivering large managed ICT services. Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL) is expected, as well as practical involvement in vendor management, contracts, SLAs, and KPIs. Experience with Australian Government procurement and ATM processes is essential. The role also calls for strong stakeholder engagement skills across both technical and executive audiences, experience guiding technical delivery teams in enterprise settings, and excellent communication, presentation, and reporting ability. The ability to facilitate governance forums, manage risks and issues, work independently, and collaborate across multiple teams is also important.
Desirable Background
Added advantage will be given to candidates with ITIL certification, PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile certification. Familiarity with Microsoft enterprise environments such as Windows 11, SOE, MECM, Active Directory, and Exchange is also valued, along with previous experience in the Australian Federal Government.
