Role Overview
This temporary full-time Laundry Aide opening is with Southern Health-Santé Sud at the Portage Regional Health Centre in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The position sits within Environmental Services and reports to the Manager of Environmental Services.
The successful candidate will handle the movement and processing of dirty and clean linen, making sure it reaches the correct parts of the facility. The role also includes tracking linen inventory, washing logs, delivery records, and keeping laundry production and storage spaces orderly. Equipment must be maintained in clean, safe working condition.
In this role, you will be expected to use sound judgment, set priorities, choose suitable work methods, and respond appropriately to unusual situations. Work must align with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and policies.

Experience
Applicants should have prior experience working in an industrial or commercial laundry setting.
Education
Grade 10 completion based on Manitoba standards is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Skills and Qualifications
The role calls for strong spoken and written English comprehension, the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions, and safe handling of laundry chemicals and cleaning products according to manufacturer guidance. Basic computer literacy is needed, along with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
You should be able to build positive working relationships, solve problems within the scope of the job, adapt to changing conditions, and adjust to updated techniques and procedures. Respect for a culturally diverse population is essential. For designated bilingual roles, proficiency in both official languages is required. Strong confidentiality practices are also necessary across paper, electronic, and other formats.
A good attendance and work record is expected. The position also requires a valid Class 5 driver’s licence, access to an insured vehicle for all purposes, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.
Physical Requirements
The job requires the ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions noted. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required, and travel to other regional facilities may be necessary depending on operational needs.

This temporary assignment may end sooner than planned in line with the collective agreement.
