Role overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented HR Generalist who is especially strong in employee benefits and enjoys supporting people throughout their employment journey. This position centers on benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and day-to-day HR support in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing accuracy, employee service, and operational follow-through while helping improve the overall employee experience.
Benefits strategy and administration
- Own the daily administration of the company’s benefits offerings and help improve them over time, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and voluntary plans.
- Work closely with brokers, consultants, and carriers to maintain strong service levels and plan performance.
- Review usage, cost movement, and market competitiveness of benefits programs, then share recommendations for improvement.
- Partner with leadership and finance on forecasting and reporting related to benefits spend.
- Plan and support annual open enrollment, including communications and employee education.
- Process enrollments, updates, and terminations accurately and on time.
- Reconcile monthly benefits bills and fix any mismatches.
- Increase employee awareness and participation in available benefits.
- Act as a go-to resource for questions about health plans, retirement, FSAs/HRAs, and related programs.
- Maintain correct COBRA administration and related compliance obligations.
Leave administration and payroll coordination
- Track and manage leave programs such as FMLA, Paid Family & Medical Leave, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and ADA accommodations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employees on leave or requesting leave, offering clear guidance and a supportive experience.
- Coordinate with HR, payroll, managers, and outside leave administrators to keep processes compliant and transitions smooth.
- Ensure benefits continue appropriately during leave and that supporting records remain accurate.
- Assist with payroll review, timecard checks, adjustments, and correct benefit deductions.
- Find and resolve issues tied to payroll or benefits discrepancies.
Employee experience and HR partnership
- Work as a trusted HR partner who supports engagement, advocacy, and a positive workplace experience.
- Help new hires understand their benefits and support a smooth onboarding experience.
Compliance and reporting
- Keep benefits practices aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and support required reporting such as ACA filings, Form 5500, retirement plan documentation, and other regulatory submissions.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready records across all benefits processes.
- Assist HR leadership with employment reporting and broader compliance initiatives.
Office and operational support
- Help keep the office running smoothly by assisting with basic operational needs.
- Manage office supplies, inventory, and workplace organization to support a positive employee environment.
Additional details
Compensation: Base pay is $65,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience.
Schedule: Approximately 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Location: Onsite in Eden Prairie, MN.
Employment type: Direct hire with a full benefits package.
