Role Overview

In this position, you will support the decontamination and disposal of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) waste. Training will be provided in NORM detection and safety. Your work will involve identifying, surveying, handling, and cleaning oilfield equipment and waste using high-pressure water blasting equipment. You will also collect samples, complete documentation, store waste appropriately, maintain decontamination equipment, and prepare reports to meet client and regulatory needs.

This role is based in Standard, Alberta and includes fieldwork. Overtime may be required, and weekend work may occasionally be part of the schedule.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time role with a 5-day workweek and 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be needed depending on workload and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Follow all SECURE safety rules, procedures, and site practices.
• Identify, survey, handle, and decontaminate oilfield equipment and waste.
• Operate forklifts, skid steers, and wheeled loaders fitted with a pipe grapple.
• Load and unload flat decks safely and efficiently.
• Perform cleaning work using high-pressure water blasting equipment.
• Keep decontamination equipment in working order through regular maintenance.
• Collect samples, document materials, and store waste correctly.

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Experience with forklifts, skid steers, and wheeled loaders with a pipe grapple is a strong advantage.
• Prior experience loading and unloading flat decks is an asset.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to organize tasks and maintain a strong focus on safety.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Preference will be given to candidates with oilfield experience and relevant certifications such as WHMIS, Standard First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry, and NORM Safety Training.
