Front Store Clerk

About the Role

Ashern Pharmacy, part of Neighbourly Pharmacy, is hiring full-time Front Store Clerks for its Ashern, Manitoba location. This position focuses on delivering excellent in-store service, keeping the front store running smoothly, and supporting day-to-day retail operations.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome customers in a pleasant, helpful manner and answer questions professionally.
• Use the cash register accurately and assist with stocking shelves, organizing aisles, and other front-store duties.
• Keep the store neat and well-organized, including light cleaning tasks and maintaining product displays.
• Carry out store procedures related to security, theft prevention, lottery sales, and CBO ticket handling.
• Track cash on hand, stay prepared for change requirements, and arrange cash pickups when needed.
• Build solid product knowledge, stay current on new merchandise, and understand the store layout.
• Display products using proper shelf labels, rotation practices, and front-facing techniques.
• Look after assigned departments and inform buyers about items that are out of stock.
• Help maintain inventory and contribute to replenishment and reordering activities.
• Set up seasonal promotions and merchandise displays.
• Handle challenging customer situations diplomatically and escalate complaints when appropriate.
• Share customer comments and concerns with the store manager.
• Stay productive during slower periods between customer interactions.
• Perform other related tasks assigned by the Front Store Manager or Store Operator/Pharmacy Manager.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong customer service skills and confidence in handling cash accurately.
• Ability to remain on your feet for long periods and juggle multiple tasks in a busy environment.
• Clear, respectful communication and good product awareness.
• Prior experience in retail, merchandising, or cashier work is an advantage.
• A professional, mature, and cooperative approach, along with proper grooming and wearing a name tag.
• A Criminal Record Check is required.

Schedule

This is a 40-hour-per-week role. The store is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Shifts will be scheduled within these hours, and occasional Saturday shifts are expected.
