Freelance Video Editor – Tech Documentary

Role overview

This opportunity is suited to an experienced video editor who enjoys shaping polished, cinema-style documentaries for a YouTube channel focused on technology and finance. The audience is primarily Western, and the content is expected to feel narrative-led, visually rich, and premium in finish.

You will work directly with the channel owner and receive complete scripts, American voiceovers, and specific creative direction for each assignment. The visual approach is influenced by high-performing documentary creators, with an emphasis on strong storytelling, dynamic motion graphics, and a smooth, engaging pace.

The typical video length is 8–10 minutes, and the workload is consistent at around 1–2 videos per month. This is positioned as a long-term freelance arrangement for the right editor.

Deliverables

• Turn supplied scripts and voiceovers into finished cinematic documentary videos of roughly 8–10 minutes each
• Add sophisticated motion graphics such as kinetic typography, animated maps, and data-led visuals
• Use cinematic colour correction and professional sound design to strengthen the storytelling
• Coordinate on visual direction and maintain a consistent look and feel across the channel
• Hand over refined, publication-ready edits within the agreed schedule
• Share project files and supporting assets when needed

Requirements

• Demonstrated background editing documentary-style videos or video essays, ideally for YouTube
• Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Hands-on ability in motion graphics, kinetic text, and data visualisation
• Experience in cinematic colour grading and audio post-production
• Knowledge of Cinema 4D is an added advantage
• Ability to translate scripts and voiceovers into clear, compelling visual sequences
• A relevant portfolio is required; generic showreels will not be accepted
• Dependable, detail-focused, and able to work to deadlines
• Comfortable collaborating remotely and communicating in English
