Role Summary
Performance Contracting is looking for an experienced Estimator to support its Albany, NY 576 operations based in Malta, NY. The selected candidate will estimate multiple scopes of work and contribute to bid preparation, project handoff, and related estimating activities.
Key Duties
- Complete quantity takeoffs for construction projects.
- Build labor productivity assumptions for estimates.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
- Request pricing from subcontractors for work handled outside the self-performing team.
- Evaluate market conditions such as competition, backlog, risk, and other factors when setting margins.
- Take part in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams.
- Support customer alignment efforts by fostering and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Handle contract administration for awarded projects.
- Use wage and benefit schedules during estimating work.
- Transition awarded projects to the Operations team.
- Assist with additional tasks such as change order management or billing, depending on project needs.
- Collaborate with other estimating team members across product lines.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $84,100 to $106,000, plus a non-guaranteed annualized bonus program. This is a safety-sensitive role.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience estimating construction projects.
- Background in estimating or managing specialty construction scopes.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand specifications, drawings, materials, and methods related to PCI’s scopes of work.
- Demonstrated success in building and sustaining strong customer relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with solid customer service ability.
- High attention to detail and strong cost-analysis capability.
- Ability to review schedules accurately and determine sequencing and duration of work scopes.
- Experience using estimating and computer takeoff tools such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.
- Strong understanding of estimating methods and the bidding process.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
- Willingness to learn and apply new technical skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or a related field.
- Experience with drywall and framing on commercial projects.
- OSHA certification.
- Experience working with union representatives.
- Resides in or near the greater Albany area.
