Role overview
This position is responsible for keeping the distribution center clean, organized, and safe, while also supporting basic upkeep of the facility’s exterior areas. The role involves regular communication with the maintenance supervisor, assistant maintenance supervisor, or DC management whenever custodial or housekeeping concerns come up.
Key duties
- Carry out janitorial and housekeeping work across all areas of the distribution center.
- Remove trash, clear cardboard containers, and sweep all flooring throughout the facility.
- Use floor scrubbing machines and operate the cardboard baler as needed.
- Keep janitorial stations stocked and organized with items such as brooms, dust mops, wet mops, and mop buckets.
- Help the maintenance team keep the tote repair area orderly and functional.
- Restock paper supplies and hand-cleaning products in restrooms and break rooms.
- Support grounds maintenance activities, including snow clearing, mowing, and trash pickup around the building.
- Assist with general maintenance work when required.
- Follow safety procedures closely and report unsafe conditions or practices.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
Experience and qualifications
The employer requires at least 1 year of custodial experience in a building, hotel, or distribution center environment. Candidates should be able to manage multiple tasks at once and work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred background
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Helpful experience includes basic groundskeeping knowledge such as mowing, weeding, and trimming, along with familiarity using lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and related equipment. Ability in more than one language, especially Spanish, is strongly preferred.
