Customer Delivery Driver - Doncaster Extra

Role overview

As a customer delivery driver, you will be the public face of the business on the road, bringing shopping directly to customers’ homes. The job is service-led as well as driving-focused, and it involves practical, physical work with plenty of variation from one shift to the next. You’ll usually work on your own during the day, while still having the backing of managers and colleagues at base whenever support is needed.

Working pattern

The availability window for this role is as follows:

• Sunday: 13:00 to 23:00
• Monday: 18:00 to 23:00
• Thursday: 13:00 to 22:00

A minimum commitment of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, although positions from 12 hours per week may also be available.

What you will do

• Keep the van, trays and work area clean, organised and ready so that every order reaches the customer in excellent condition.
• Load the vehicle safely and carry out the necessary checks to make sure it is roadworthy and fit for deliveries.
• Explain order amendments, substitutions or short-dated products to customers in a calm and helpful manner, and process refunds where required.
• Handle goods carefully and treat each delivery as if it were your own, protecting product quality and customer confidence.
• Deliver within the allotted time slot and provide friendly, reassuring service at the door so customers feel valued.

What is needed

• Ability to work well with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
• A warm, approachable and welcoming manner with both customers and co-workers.
• Comfort with fast-moving situations and a willingness to adapt to changing needs while out on the road or in store.
• A valid UK, EU or EEA driving licence, full or automatic, held for at least 12 months.
• No more than 3 penalty points on the driving licence.

Pay and benefits

Pay begins at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour for stores within the M25. Some sites may also provide extra payments.
