Position Summary

At The Home Depot in Niagara Falls, NY, this role focuses on delivering quick, courteous, precise, and safe service at the checkout. The cashier is responsible for handling purchase and return transactions, keeping the self-checkout area running smoothly, and helping customers with product or project questions to create a better shopping experience and uncover additional sales opportunities.

What the Role Involves

This position requires close attention to store procedures and loss prevention practices so that shrink is kept to a minimum. For a Head Cashier, the role expands to include coordinating cashier coverage, supporting pricing checks, approving certain point-of-sale actions and markdowns across mainline registers, self-checkout, returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental, and serving as the first point of escalation for customer concerns.

Leadership and Training

Head Cashiers also assist with supervising, coaching, and developing front-end associates. That includes helping train new cashiers and using the tools available to improve performance and build confidence across the cashier team.

Additional Information

The preferred background for a Head Cashier is at least 1 year of cashier experience.
