About the Team
The Business Intelligence and Data Analytics group powers data-led improvements across the business. As the team expands its use of artificial intelligence, it is seeking a proactive Junior BI Analyst to help connect established analytics practices with newer AI-driven capabilities.
Role Overview
This position focuses on using data, automation, and AI-enhanced methods to improve reporting, support decision-making, and increase productivity across the cross-border business organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data deeply to uncover trends, patterns, and business opportunities for the Shopee cross-border business organisation.
- Assist senior team members in rolling out AI initiatives that improve internal productivity and predictive modelling.
- Build and use internal AI agents to reduce repetitive data work and make team processes more efficient.
- Upgrade conventional BI dashboards into smarter dashboards with predictive elements and automated insight summaries.
- Work with stakeholders to support data needs for AI-enabled simulation models and decision-support tools.
- Keep KPI reporting accurate and timely by maintaining data quality and improving data workflows.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- At least 1 year of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering; background in e-commerce or social media is an added advantage.
- Proven use of AI to improve individual or team productivity is strongly preferred.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, especially for data manipulation and automation tasks.
- Hands-on experience with BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Google Looker Studio.
- Basic knowledge of machine learning concepts including regression, clustering, and forecasting.
- Experience with agent-building tools or frameworks, plus familiarity with LLMs such as OpenAI API or Claude and prompt engineering for data analysis, is preferred.
- Comfort working in a support function in a fast-moving, changing environment.
- Ability to present technical findings and data insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability, including diagnosing root causes and suggesting practical solutions supported by AI where useful.
