Architectural Designer / Interior Architect

Overview

Architecture Design Limited is seeking an Architectural Designer / Interior Architect to join its expanding practice in Chatham, Kent. The role sits across hospitality, retail, and residential work, with projects ranging from cafés and restaurants to drive-thrus, retail fit-outs, housing developments, and schemes for national multi-site brands.

This is a hands-on position in a small but ambitious studio where each team member contributes meaningfully. You will collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and local authorities, and gain exposure to every stage of the design and construction process while handling a varied project load.

Role Summary

You will develop projects from the early concept stage through technical design and construction documentation, taking ownership of work as it progresses through planning and Building Regulations to delivery on site.

Key Duties

• Take projects from concept design through to technical packs and construction drawing sets.
• Prepare drawing submissions for planning and Building Regulations approval.
• Create general arrangement plans, reflected ceiling plans, sections, elevations, FF&E layouts, and detailed technical information.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, Building Control, and local authorities to keep projects moving smoothly.
• Balance several live projects at once while maintaining strong design quality and technical precision.

Candidate Profile

The practice is open to applicants from a variety of backgrounds. Suitable experience may come from commercial fit-out, residential work, planning-focused roles, or strong technical drafting ability. Motivated candidates with solid technical capability and a desire to grow are encouraged to apply.

Essential Requirements

• Confident technical drawing and design capability.
• Strong communication skills and good personal organisation.
• Ability to handle multiple deadlines and overlapping projects.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• UK-based and able to work full-time from the Chatham, Kent office.

Desirable Experience

• Delivery of commercial fit-out schemes such as cafés, restaurants, retail, or office interiors.
• Preparation of planning application drawings.
• Working knowledge of Building Regulations and construction detailing.
• Experience assembling technical drawing packages.
• ArchiCAD experience preferred, or familiarity with comparable BIM/CAD tools such as Vectorworks or Revit.
• Experience coordinating consultants and wider project teams.
• Residential project exposure, including extensions, conversions, or new-build homes.
• Experience working with franchise operators or multi-site rollout programmes.

Compensation
