Role overview
Breeze Airways is looking for a UI/UX Designer to help shape the internal digital tools that support its Operations Control Center (OCC). This role focuses on creating interfaces for mission-critical airline operations software used to manage flights, crews, aircraft, stations, and disruption recovery. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to bring a new Operations Control Tool from concept through launch and keep improving it for operational needs.
The position is part of Breeze’s broader mission to make travel simpler, more affordable, and more convenient while improving the guest experience through technology, ingenuity, and kindness. The work is highly cross-functional and requires thoughtful design for real-time, high-pressure decision-making environments.
Key responsibilities
- Create interfaces for operational staff where speed, clarity, and calm decision-making are essential.
- Collaborate with fellow designers, product managers, and software engineers to shape the product experience.
- Design AI-assisted workflows that let operators review recommendations, apply them safely, and understand the rationale through clear transparency and auditability.
- Turn product ideas into user journeys, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and polished visual designs.
- Design for a range of devices, operating systems, and interface patterns.
- Develop and maintain operational UI components within the Moxy Design System using Figma and Storybook, including support for dense data-driven workflows.
- Apply modern UI/UX practices and adapt layouts for responsive experiences.
- Conduct research with frontline users through interviews, usability testing, and observation in the OCC.
- Stay current on new tools and technologies that can strengthen the company’s competitive edge.
- Protect brand consistency and design system integrity throughout the build process.
- Prepare optimized visual assets for production use.
- Work toward performance goals while reflecting Breeze Aviation Group’s values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence.
Requirements
- A four-year degree in UI/UX, graphic design, multimedia design, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
- 3 to 5 years of UI/UX design experience, ideally on complex, workflow-heavy, or data-rich software products.
- A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills for working with designers, product managers, and developers.
- Comfort designing for real-time systems and multiple user roles working from the same data.
- Ability to create UI flows and layouts that address the needs of all stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with Figma and Storybook, or comparable tools.
- Ability to perform well under pressure, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and stay adaptable.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Self-motivated attitude with a strong drive to succeed.
- Capacity to complete work with minimal supervision and adapt to varied hours when deadlines require it.
- Preferred background in aviation or airline operations, including OCC, dispatch, crew, stations, or maintenance.
- Interest in travel is considered a plus.
Skills and talents
- Alignment with Breeze’s safety culture, mission, and values.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to simplify complex operational information into intuitive tools.
- Comfort working with individuals and teams across all organizational levels.
Perks and benefits
- Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
- Health Savings Account with company matching.
- 401(k) plan with company match.
- Paid time off.
- Travel benefits on Breeze and other airlines.
