What This Role Involves
This position is focused on transportation operations management. You will be responsible for improving transport flow end to end, from collection and sorting through transit and final delivery. The role also covers carrier management, route and capacity planning, operational monitoring, customer issue handling, and team capability development.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and refine transportation plans based on business requirements, improving the full transport journey from pickup to delivery.
- Optimize routes and operating methods to reduce returns, increase efficiency, and lower overall logistics costs.
- Set and improve standard operating procedures for transportation activities.
- Assess, choose, and manage carriers, including creating performance review methods and handling day-to-day operational exceptions.
- Coordinate transport resources, open or develop new channels where needed, and improve route and capacity allocation.
- Track live transportation performance indicators such as cost, efficiency, and profit or loss, and raise alerts when issues appear.
- Review operational data to find improvement opportunities and turn them into practical action plans.
- Handle customer requirements across the service cycle and manage complaints or claims in a timely manner.
- Work closely with internal teams and outside partners to keep transportation operations running smoothly.
- Set team objectives, assign work, coach team members, and support training and skill development.
- Build capability within the team to strengthen professional knowledge, service mindset, and long-term operational performance.
