Training Specialist

Overview

This opportunity is for an Epic Credentialed Trainer who will provide effective, high-impact training and support to both clinical and non-clinical teams using an electronic medical record (EMR) platform. The role works in close coordination with Principal Trainers so users can become confident with workflows, documentation, and data entry.

The position combines classroom teaching, curriculum assistance, and hands-on help during go-live activities. It is well suited to someone who enjoys teaching, adopting new technology, and supporting healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct instructor-led learning sessions for clinicians, physicians, and non-clinical employees in both live and virtual formats.
• Lead study halls, lab sessions, and other interactive training activities, usually consisting of one 5-hour session each day.
• Use adult learning techniques to keep sessions engaging, practical, and productive.
• Set up training materials, attendance rosters, and learning environments before each class.
• Run end-user competency checks and document the results.
• Offer direct, in-the-moment support during system go-live events.
• Work alongside Principal Trainers to refine curriculum content, job aids, and supporting materials.
• Help validate training environments and system changes so materials stay accurate and useful.
• Track training outcomes and share feedback to support ongoing improvements.
• Respond clearly and promptly to questions from learners and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to earn Credentialed Trainer status within 6 weeks, including exams and teaching demonstrations with a minimum passing score of 85%.
• At least 5 years of experience in facilitation, training, or a similar learning-focused role.
• Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
• Capability to work both independently and in coordination with cross-functional teams.
• Comfort adapting to changes in course content and delivery style.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and virtual meeting tools such as Zoom.
• Strong people skills and a helpful, professional attitude.
• Interest in technology and enthusiasm for encouraging system adoption.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher, or equivalent practical experience.
• Background in healthcare or clinical settings.
• Exposure to adult learning, instructional design, or learning management systems such as Cornerstone.
• Previous experience in training, coaching, or precepting others.
• Understanding of change management concepts.
• Past Epic training or implementation experience.
