System Administrator

Role Overview

SimpleWorks is hiring a System Engineer / System Administrator for its Cloud & IT Infrastructure team in Nagpur. This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Nagpur office. The position calls for 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience and is suited to someone who is confident taking ownership of server environments, solving technical issues, and communicating clearly with both internal teams and external clients.

What You’ll Do

• Take charge of Linux servers such as CentOS, Ubuntu, and RHEL in both on-premise and cloud setups.
• Set up, support, and troubleshoot web servers like Apache and Nginx, along with application layers involving PHP and Python.
• Carry out server security strengthening, operating system patching, security settings, and performance tracking using utilities such as top, sar, vmstat, and netstat.
• Write and maintain shell or Bash scripts to automate repetitive operational work and improve efficiency.
• Support database administration tasks for MySQL and PostgreSQL, including user handling, backups, tuning, and issue resolution.
• Continuously watch system health, logs, and incidents to keep services stable, reliable, and highly available.
• Work with clients to manage technical questions, deployments, and escalations in a timely and professional way.
• Oversee IT infrastructure assets, including servers, endpoints, licenses, access control, and user provisioning.
• Maintain accurate records for system settings, SOPs, and incident closures.
• Assist with cloud server setup and maintenance on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including EC2, IAM, S3, basic networking, and firewall or security group rules.

Required Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate should bring strong Linux administration expertise, practical experience with web servers and scripting, and a solid understanding of at least one public cloud platform. The role also requires confidence in networking basics, performance monitoring, system troubleshooting, and direct client communication.

Additional Skills That Help

Useful add-ons for this role include certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Azure Administrator. Experience in IT asset management, user access management, or end-user support is also an advantage, as is familiarity with Git and ticketing tools such as Jira or ServiceNow.
