About the opportunity
This is a practical, people-first leadership role for someone who enjoys delivering excellent customer experiences while keeping a retail store operating smoothly. You will lead the front-of-house team, oversee daily store activity, and handle the administrative and operational tasks that support a well-run business. Your input will help shape how the store is managed and how the team works together.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise, guide, and develop a front-of-house team of six, including onboarding, coaching, and ongoing training.
- Manage everyday store operations, including stock control and food safety checks, to ensure efficient service and compliance.
- Handle store administration and other operational duties that keep the business organised.
- Foster positive connections with both team members and customers to maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Collaborate with the owner and Hospitality Manager on business processes and store improvements.
Work schedule
The roster runs from Tuesday to Saturday. Store trading hours are 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, with the schedule covering three daytime shifts and two evening shifts within those hours.
What we are looking for
We are seeking an energetic, hands-on leader who performs well in a busy, people-oriented setting. You should enjoy working with a lively team, bring practical ideas, and take satisfaction in helping customers and colleagues have a great experience.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of solid experience in a store management role.
- Background in food retail, such as dessert shops or sweet stores, is helpful but not essential.
- A full driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle are required.
- You must have a clean criminal record.
- Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen, a New Zealand resident, or already hold the right to work in New Zealand with a valid visa.
