Job Purpose

The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating the planning team so that project planning activities are completed in line with Coastal Contracting Company Planning Manual standards, required timelines, and quality expectations. The role calls for strong specialist expertise and a high level of commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide planning activities across a portfolio of projects, including analysis of cost trends, schedule trends, and critical path shifts or risks at both project and portfolio level.
  • Set, review, and monitor schedule-quality deliverables for multiple consultants and contractors, while overseeing all planning-related outputs such as risk reporting, CPM management, and change control.
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
  • Address planning-stage risks linked to the clarity, detail, and completeness of construction documents.
  • Assess time-related claims from consultants and contractors and support Coastal Contracting Company in reaching final decisions.
  • Prepare executive-level strategic recommendations, draft management reports, and present findings to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or another degree related to construction or development is required.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in a large-scale mixed-use development environment is preferred.
  • A project management certification, diploma, or master’s qualification is an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera planning software, preferably the latest version, is required.
