Role overview

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the quality, stability, and scalability of the Classroom Management product. Working with engineering leaders, product specialists, designers, and other engineers, you will help shape durable services and polished user experiences for a global SaaS platform.

This role is based within the Australian team and involves turning customer needs into practical product improvements, with impact across infrastructure, performance, and the user interface. The work directly supports a fast-growing product used internationally.

Qoria also encourages the responsible use of approved AI tools to assist with learning, prototyping, implementation, testing, documentation, and design exploration. These tools must be used with sound engineering judgement, strong security awareness, and full accountability for production quality.

Working style and benefits

The company supports a balance between remote work and in-office collaboration. The current setup expects 2–3 days per week in the Perth office, alongside flexible start and finish times.

What you will do

• Develop and improve backend services that are dependable, scalable, and fast.
• Partner with product and design teams to create user interfaces that are clear, maintainable, and easy to use.
• Weigh trade-offs carefully when deciding between delivery speed, code quality, maintainability, and long-term product health.
• Work with the team to raise engineering standards, improve test coverage, strengthen code quality, and refine delivery processes.
• Take part in technical discussions and contribute to platform improvements that support future growth.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to estimate, plan, and deliver meaningful product changes.
• Keep observability, automation, testing, and operational readiness at a high standard.
• Use approved AI tools in a responsible way to support coding, refactoring, testing, documentation, prototyping, and design exploration.
• Review AI-assisted output carefully for mistakes, security issues, weak error handling, missing edge cases, and maintainability risks.
• Support production systems through debugging, incident response, and ongoing refinement.

What you should bring

• Practical engineering experience with languages such as Go, Java, or TypeScript.
• Ability and willingness to adapt to new technologies, frameworks, and tools as needed.
• Exposure to distributed and cloud-native system design or operations.
• A strong focus on correctness, performance, reliability, and clean maintainable code.
• A collaborative working style with clear communication and a helpful, team-oriented mindset.
• Comfort making realistic commitments and clarifying ambiguity to support practical delivery.
• Interest in using approved AI tools as an engineering aid while keeping human judgement in control.
• Ownership of the systems you contribute to, including debugging, maintenance, and improvement of AI-assisted code.
