Role summary
The Sandwich Maker is an important part of the culinary team and supports the bagged lunch program by preparing a range of sandwiches and specialty items. The role works across day and night shifts and partners with culinary leaders to ensure products are attractive, consistent, and ready each day.
This posting is for future openings at the company’s project site in Moosonee, Ontario.
Work environment and site amenities
The role follows a remote camp-style work setup. The site provides meals and lodging, transportation to and from the location from designated points, a private room with cable television, Wi‑Fi access, laundry facilities with detergents, and access to a gym and common areas.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sandwiches and related menu items according to standard recipes and menus, including specialty fillings and compound items such as egg salad and tuna.
- Keep food rotated correctly so that spoilage and waste stay low.
- Oversee the daily setup and flow of sandwich production.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized work area in line with company and legal hygiene standards, including floors, counters, shelves, fixtures, equipment, fridges, and walls.
- Check the appearance of cold food items to ensure color, presentation, and overall visual appeal are maintained.
- Maintain enough stock of all sandwich varieties to meet demand.
Requirements
- Experience with large-volume cooking in camps, banquet halls, or hotels is a strong advantage.
- Prior mass-production experience as a sandwich maker is preferred.
- Current Food Safe certification is preferred.
- Ability to commit to a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation.
- Strong team orientation and a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Valid government-issued photo identification for travel to the site.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
- Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit for extended periods depending on the task.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand work using both hands fully.
- Ability to work with arms fully extended.
- Ability to work with arms above shoulder level.
Additional information
The position is offered on a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation. Depending on site needs, shifts may include nights, weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. Travel to the site may be by air or by ground shuttle because the location is remote.
