PPSO Specialist

Role overview

This position supports a specialized U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The PPSO Specialist handles personal property and Unaccompanied Baggage (UB) movement, storage, tracking, and customer support while working within government and Department of Defense requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the movement, storage, and handling of personal property and Unaccompanied Baggage so shipments are processed accurately and on time.
• Oversee the sending and receiving of items for military personnel, civilian staff, and dependents in line with the relevant rules and procedures.
• Help customers complete, submit, and process the paperwork needed for relocation or storage services.
• Enter shipment data into tracking systems and keep all status updates and movement records current and correct.
• Arrange transportation and storage services while following government and DoD compliance requirements.
• Check packing, handling, and storage work for quality and standards compliance.
• Work with transportation providers and other parties to address claims, delays, damages, and other shipment issues.
• Respond to customer questions, provide guidance, and resolve concerns related to personal property and UB.
• Protect classified and sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Stay current on policies, procedures, and regulations related to personal property and UB shipping.

Minimum qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of experience in personal property shipping, logistics, transportation, or a similar field.
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Working knowledge of personal property preparation, shipping, receiving, and storage processes.
• Comfort using data entry systems and shipment tracking tools.
• Strong organization and communication skills, with fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment with strong attention to detail.
• Valid passport and the ability to travel internationally.
• Passport validity of at least one year at the time of hiring.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and keep meeting them throughout deployment.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working in an austere OCONUS setting with a multinational workforce.
• Valid country driver’s license and passport.
• Country visa, if required under the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Background in logistics or transportation support for military or government operations.
• Knowledge of DoD shipping and storage processes, including systems such as Defense Personal Property System (DPS).
• Strong problem-solving skills for handling transport disputes and discrepancies.
