Job Summary
This position is intended to support the launch and early-stage running of a new supply base operation in Saudi Arabia, aligned with the wider group plan to develop a supply base setup at Ras Al Khair Port.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape and refine operating approaches so they comply with the requirements of Saudi Port Authorities, the Coast Guards, and the Customs (Zakat) office inside the port area.
- Lead supply base execution activities with responsibility for achieving revenue and margin targets across supply base operations and ship repair services within the port.
- Build relationships with new customer segments and ensure responsive, customer-focused support for marine and offshore clients operating in KSA.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of vessel movement procedures in accordance with Port Authority (Mawani) and coast guard rules.
- Coordinate with Mawani harbour tugs whenever vessel movement support is required.
- Organize and deliver stevedoring activities to ensure vessels are handled safely and securely when arriving at the supply base.
- Understand the logistics and operational services typically delivered through a supply base.
- Understand project load-out operations using SPMTs and cranes for moving modules, blocks, and subsea pipelines onto a laydown barge.
- Work with clients’ marine warranty surveyors to confirm that sea fastening and load-out activities are completed according to surveyor instructions.
- Actively follow up with prospective clients to promote PFMC capabilities and service offerings and help generate additional revenue.
- Manage customer site enquiries and coordinate with the commercial team to ensure prompt responses.
- Track tenders with customers and agents, including negotiation of contracts and projects.
- Ensure the commercial estimator prepares tender pricing on time.
- Oversee client management activities for PFMC within the port.
- Supervise the PFMC operations team to keep critical stock of materials and consumables at optimal levels.
- Make sure internal stakeholders understand and follow contractual commitments, and identify situations where processes may breach regulations.
- Evaluate risks and provide recommendations based on analysis of factors affecting business decisions.
- Support change management activities, including negotiating and settling change or variation orders with clients.
- Review current commercial management procedures and policies and provide practical feedback to improve and update them.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in operations related to Saudi ports or supply base activities, with strong familiarity with Mawani, Coast Guard, and Customs regulatory functions preferred.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with SAP Project Management.
- Experience with Microsoft Project.
- Prior team management experience.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture is required.
