Role overview
This position is for an NDE Examiner working on-site in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan with Bureau Veritas. The role calls for a seasoned nondestructive examination professional who can carry out inspection activities, assess results against code requirements, and produce reliable technical documentation.
Technical responsibilities
- Carry out ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, and penetrant testing in line with the required certification level and applicable procedures.
- Perform UT thickness checks, weld inspections, and defect identification using A-scan and phased array UT methods.
- Apply magnetic particle inspection on welds and base material using both wet fluorescent and dry powder techniques.
- Conduct dye penetrant inspection on welds, heat-affected zones, and base metal surfaces.
- Review inspection findings, judge them against code acceptance limits, and issue NDE reports.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain NDE instruments according to approved procedures and standards.
- Prepare and update NDE procedures based on project specifications and governing codes.
Knowledge and compliance
- Work with acceptance criteria for pressure vessels, storage tanks, and piping under relevant codes and standards.
- Apply knowledge of ASME Section V, ASME Section VIII, API 510, API 570, and API 653 in day-to-day inspection work.
- Understand common corrosion and degradation mechanisms and the inspection methods used to detect them.
Minimum eligibility and certification
- Must hold PCN or an equivalent qualification such as ASNT Level II or SNT-TC-1A in UT, MT, and PT.
- At least 10 years of NDE experience is required.
- Hands-on experience in flaw detection, testing, result interpretation, and reporting is necessary.
- Background in oil and gas project work, including project construction, QA/QC, and commissioning, is mandatory.
- Valid certificates must be available and shared with the CV.
