Pinterest is hiring a contract Motion Designer to join its Paid Performance Marketing team and help shape the brand’s presence across social and digital advertising. This is a remote role based in the United States, running through the end of the year with a possibility of extension. The position pays $54–69 per hour on a W2 basis.
The work centers on motion-led creative for performance marketing, paid social, and digital advertising. You’ll turn ideas into engaging video and motion assets that support campaigns, strengthen the brand, and drive measurable outcomes such as installs, sign-ups, and re-engagement.
Portfolio and experience focus
Applicants should include a portfolio in their resume. Strong examples are expected in motion design for performance marketing, paid social, and digital advertising, especially social-first vertical video work. Experience creating work for platforms such as TikTok, Meta, and YouTube is important, along with a solid grasp of platform-specific constraints. Background in both product-focused campaigns and broader brand campaigns is also required.
Expert-level ability is needed in animation, pacing, visual storytelling, typography, color, and core motion design principles.
What you will do
As part of the Paid Performance Marketing team, you will concept, storyboard, and produce a variety of motion-driven briefs from the marketing team. The role involves using animation, editing, and storytelling to create high-performing creative for a range of channels and formats.
Key responsibilities
- Improve and expand Pinterest’s motion creative across social and digital channels including Meta, TikTok, Snap, YouTube, and other platforms.
- Design attention-grabbing motion assets that support business goals such as installs, sign-ups, and re-engagement while maintaining brand consistency.
- Convert static ideas into scalable motion systems, including storyboards, animatics, and reusable template libraries for use across regions, channels, and formats.
- Work through concepts quickly at different stages of fidelity, from rough ideas to animatics and rough cuts, while being open to constructive feedback and contributing feedback to others.
- Partner with designers, writers, producers, and growth teams to move ideas from brief to final delivery, ensuring the creative is on-brand, aligned to the message, and optimized for performance.
- Apply performance data, creative insights, and channel best practices to continually improve motion style, timing, and narrative flow.
- Experiment with AI and emerging tools in a thoughtful way to speed up exploration, previsualization, and variant development without compromising craft.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience producing motion or video for performance marketing, digital advertising, or social media content.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality motion work across social and digital channels, with clear storytelling, solid pacing, and awareness of platform limitations.
- Excellent precision in layout, typography, color, and motion.
- Hands-on experience creating and animating for both product-led campaigns and brand-building work.
- Ability to work quickly across several projects at the same time, with a testing-and-learning mindset.
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities, including the capacity to explain motion choices to both creative and non-creative audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in motion tools such as After Effects and at least one editing tool; familiarity with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Bonus experience with AI-related motion tools such as Runway, generative video tools, or similar technologies.
