Mechanical Engineer - Paper Manufacturing Industry

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with hands-on exposure to paper manufacturing operations to work in Cyprus. In this role, you will help keep plant equipment running reliably, improve mechanical performance, and support a modern paper production line through better maintenance and continuous improvement.

What you will do

• Take ownership of the upkeep and dependability of machinery used in paper production.
• Design and carry out preventive as well as predictive maintenance plans.
• Investigate mechanical breakdowns and work with the team to complete fixes quickly and reduce production interruptions.
• Assist manufacturing teams in improving equipment output, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.
• Handle the installation, start-up, and enhancement of mechanical assets.
• Track maintenance expenditure and suggest practical, budget-friendly improvements.
• Make sure all activities follow health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Liaise with vendors, outside contractors, and specialist technical partners.
• Produce technical documentation, maintenance calendars, and analysis of equipment performance.

Profile suited for this role

Applicants with experience in any of the following capacities are welcome to apply: Mechanical Engineer in a paper mill, Maintenance Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, Reliability Engineer, Plant Maintenance Manager, Utilities and Mechanical Systems Engineer, Production Support Engineer in the paper sector, Mechanical Projects Engineer, or Asset Integrity Engineer.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 5 years of work experience in a paper manufacturing or paper converting environment.
• Solid understanding of paper machine sections, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Practical experience with preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
• Working knowledge of CMMS maintenance management software.
• Strong diagnostic thinking and problem-solving capability.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• English proficiency is essential; knowledge of other languages will be considered an advantage.
